A solar immersion control device such as an iBoost or Immersun uses excess electricity generated by solar PV panels and effectively transforms your Solar PV system into a Solar Thermal system.
The control unit is designed to work in properties which have a hot water cylinder with either an immersion heater installed or the facility to have one installed. As soon as your PV system starts to export power to the grid the control unit redirects any excess generated electricity to the immersion heater in the hot water cylinder.
The control unit works with all Solar PV systems and immersion heaters.
If the load in your house changes, e.g. you put the dishwasher or washing machine on, the controller will recognise this and reduce the amount of power sent to the immersion, therefore maintaining the independence from the grid.
With the immersion control unit, only the electricity that would have been exported to the grid is used by the immersion heater.
This device means that you don’t have to be at home on a nice sunny day to enjoy the benefits of free electricity. When you have any ‘spare’ electricity, you can enjoy a free tank of hot water.
The units have an LCD display screen which tells you how much energy you have saved.
Marlec’s innovative Solar iBoost+ enables you to automatically consume the excess energy generated at your home so you can just sit back and enjoy the extra savings!
