Boiler Upgrade Scheme Grant Boosted to £9,000 for Off-Gas Homes!
Great news for homeowners in England and Wales! The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) has been updated to offer an increased grant of £9,000 for properties currently heated by oil or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Currently, under the BUS, homeowners can claim a £7,500 grant towards upgrading their gas or oil heating system with an air source or ground source heat pump, so this increase is a huge leap in the claimable voucher.
This £1,500 boost, announced by the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ), aims to support households and small businesses that are feeling the recent impacts of rising energy bills due to the conflict in the Middle East, which is impacting oil and LPG prices the most.
The enhanced grant is specifically for those switching to air-to-water or ground-source heat pumps, making it easier and more affordable to transition to a sustainable & efficient heating solution, and helping shield against unpredictable energy price spikes.
It’s a fantastic opportunity for off-gas homeowners to reduce their carbon footprint and save on energy bills. The increased grant helps to lower the upfront costs of upgrading an inefficient system and speed up your return on investment, making the switch to a renewable heating system more financially viable for many.
However, keep in mind that this uplift is available for this financial year only, so if you were considering a heat pump, now is the best time!
